On January 30, Tenby Junior School gymnastics team went down to Tenby Leisure Centre to compete against other schools from around Pembrokeshire (write Chelsie Hart and Amy Williams).

Members of the Tenby Junior School team were Georgina Jones, Sinead Walker, Chelsie Hart, Amy Williams, Gabby Rees and Tasha Kinsey, while others from school taking part were Tom Koop, Daniel Fairley, Josh Koop and Natalie Johnson, along with Isabelle Rees from Tenby Infants.

The Tenby team went down ready for action, dressed in shorts, and nearly froze, but soon warmed up when they arrived at the Leisure Centre, which was so full the team could hardly move through the crowd to take their seats.

Georgina was really starting to get butterflies by the time it came to Tenby's first event, the vault, at 4 pm, but all the Tenby team cleared it well.

The second event for the Tenby team was the squat on, tuck, jump off. Practice jumps had gone well for the Tenby girls but, unfortunately, when it came to Chelsie's go proper, she fell over the other side.

Amy was worried when it came to the third event, the tumble, as she could not remember what the sequence was, but she need not have worried as she did better than she did in practice.

Finally came the conditioning, our hardest and longest event, before the wait to find out who had won.

Following the announcement of the Year Five winners, we got up on our knees to see who had won the Year Six events, with Gabby Rees coming seventh and Tasha Kinsey fifth.

Then it came to which team had won, with Tenby coming third. We all hesitated at first, then all stood up at once, before going to the third place box to be given our medals.

Full results were:

Years 2/3 - Isabelle Rees (Tenby Infants) 4th; Tom Koop 3rd; Daniel Fairley 7th.

Year 5 - Josh Koop 7th; Natalie Johnson 26th.

Year 6 - Natasha Kinsey 5th; Gabby Rees 7th; Amy Williams 24th; Georgina Jones 41st; Sinead Walker 45th; Chelsie Hart 48th.

Team position - Third.
