St. Issell’s Church was very pleased to once again host the annual flower festival on behalf of Saundersfoot In Bloom (writes H.P.).
Organisations and charities from the area really excelled themselves this year with some wonderful flower themed displays.
The already beautiful church was resplendent with colour and the perfume of the flowers hit you as you walked in the church doorway.
Many people during the week spent time browsing the displays or simply sitting in the peace and quiet to drink it all in.
Meanwhile, in the schoolroom, there was a watercolour display by local artists and refreshments provided by different organisations during the week.
On Friday, members of the congregation hosted a coffee morning at the Regency Hall and, although the weather could have been kinder, there was a good turnout of people to help raise much-needed funds for the church.
It costs over £800 each week for the general running of the church and we have to work hard to find this money. We are bringing our church up-to-date by using modern technology and it is wonderful to see lots of mentions of St. Issell’s on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and indeed by visiting our Facebook page you can make donations to the church which we are always grateful to receive. Perhaps you can help us by giving us a retweet, a like or a mention.
To finish the week off in style, we held a Songs of Praise on Saturday to celebrate the Flower Festival and indeed God’s wonderful creation. We were delighted to welcome members of the organisations who had displayed flowers. We now look forward to our Christmas Tree Festival and would be pleased if any of the local charities and organisation would like to decorate a tree and highlight their group or work. Please get in touch with us if you would like to be involved.
Services for the coming week: Sunday: 10.30 am Sung Eucharist; Tuesday: 6 pm choir practice; Wednesday: 10.30 am Said Eucharist.
