PEMBROKESHIRE WATERSPORTS VISIT
A recent visit by Mr. Doney's class, of Penally VC School, to the Watersports Centre near Pembroke Dock, resulted in certificates for all participants - including the teachers!
The school would like to thank all the staff at the centre for a fanstastic week of activities enjoyed by everyone.
"It's a great experience, every pupil in Pembrokeshire should attend at least once!"
TRIP TO IRELAND
Penally School, as part of the European Commenius Programme involving linking schools, recently visited Ireland and spent the day at St. Canises School in Rosbercon. This school is one of the three schools which forms a trilateral link with Penally, the other being a school in Denmark.
During the visit, the children spent time in the classroom collaborating with the Irish pupils and learning about their school day as well as the local environment.
They also participated in some Irish dancing along with other pupils from the school.
Part of the morning included visiting the 'Dunbrody', a replica of the famine ship which sailed to America and Canada with Irish emigrants during the potato famine. The day also included a visit to the 'Heritage and Culture' park at Wexford.
This for most of the pupils was their first visit to Ireland and was most beneficial educationally as it formed part of this term's theme on 'Transport and Communication.'
The day concluded with a meal at the Rosslaire Hotel, before the evening sailing back to Fishguard. An enjoyable day was had by all!
