High Street pavements

Pembrokeshire County Council will resurface Narberth's High Street and remove the double edged pavements sometime over the next two years, but the town council would like the work completed at an earlier date.

Christmas lights donations

At this week's meeting of Narberth Town Council, former Mayor, Clr. Henry Langen, suggested that the Christmas lights collection boxes be placed in shops and other premises round the town. His council colleagues agreed.

Ludlow twinning

Narberth town councillors have thanked Clr. Henry Langen for all his hard work in arranging the town's twinning with Ludlow, Shropshire.

Councillor welcomed

The Mayor of Narberth, Clr. David Norcross, and town council members welcomed newly-elected Pembrokeshire county councillor, Elwyn Morse, who represents the Narberth Rural Ward to Tuesday night's meeting of the council, as did county councillor Wynne Evans before starting his report.

Dog bins

One dog bin will be placed on the Town Moor and another at the castle, members of Narberth Town Council heard this week. The refill dispensers will have to be removed and replaced at regular intervals. The town's Mayor, Clr. David Norcross, and Clr. Colin Williams volunteered to carry out the work.

Picnic benches

Narberth's county council representative, Clr. Wynne Evans, has obtained some picnic benches from Saundersfoot which will be placed in Carding Mill Lane.

Extra yellow lines

Although extra yellow lines have been placed at the entrance to the Town Moor car park in Narberth, vehicles are still parking illegally, members of the town council were informed this week.

Memorial bench

A bench in memory of the late Edward Price, of Narberth, is to be placed in the town's Charles Salmon Memorial Gardens. Temporary closure

Narberth Swimming Pool will be closed for part of the summer months for essential maintenance, members of the town council were informed this week.

Custodian thanked

A letter of thanks from Narberth Town Council is to be sent to Mr. Eric Antonen, custodian of the town's castle, thanking him for his outstanding efforts in his role and for the many hours he has given in maintaining the site.

Support for firemen

Members of Narberth Town Council have pledged their support to the town's retained firemen who are concerned about the change of policy which might reduce numbers and also have a knock-on effect at the town's sub-station which is one of the busiest in Wales.

Tabernacle Lane concerns

A meeting between Narberth's county councillor, Wynne Evans, the authority's road safety officer and residents of Tabernacle Lane, is to be held to thrash out householders' concerns about traffic turning sharply into the lane where children often play. The meeting will look at ways of slowing down traffic before entering the lane.

Scooter problems

A number of reports have been received from families about young people on motorised scooters acting in an irresponsible way on the Town Moor playing area. "The families said they felt unsafe using the moor," explained Clr. Wynne Evans this week. "I have checked with the police and this in fact is a criminal offence," he pointed out. A sign has been requested forbidding any vehicles, and local residents are being encouraged to contact the police directly.

Delegated Powers

Mayor of Narberth, Clr. David Norcross, and the clerk, Mrs. Caroline Coaker, were given delegated powers to deal with minor matters during the summer recess and authorised to make payments up to the value of £200.
