Golden Grove School-Ysgol Gelli Aur in Pembroke was a hive of activity right up to end of the term on Friday, December 20.
Foundation Phase pupils were excited to meet Father Christmas. Bringing each child a book, Santa reminded the children of the meaning of Christmas and the need to be on their best behaviour at all times.
The children in return showed their appreciation by singing both English and Welsh carols. This visit was followed by a very entertaining hour with magician Phillip Jones; laughter and fun resulted in many, many happy faces in the hall.
On the last Thursday of term, a splendid nativity play was enacted by a very confident group of pupils in year 6. They took time to reflect on the various plays they have been involved in over the past six years and no doubt some of them will star in future productions in their chosen secondary school when they move on at the end of this school year.
One of the year 6 pupils, Jarvis, has been busy raising funds for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a cause close to his heart.
He has done a tremendous job raising the profile of and much-needed funds for the charity and was very pleased to receive a cheque from the school, being part of the fundraising efforts in November; children had dressed for Children in Need Day and the school had agreed to share the donations between Pudsey and the Diabetes charity. Later the same day, a planned carol service at St. Mary's Church was hastily rearranged to take place at the school due to the inclement weather.
The Rev. Roger Jones, a very dear friend of the school, led the service, which involved joint pieces and class presentations.
The atmosphere in the school hall was particularly festive, with the addition of sets and scenes from the many different nativity plays held in the school.
The pupils cheered and welcomed a very special choir to the hall; the choir comprising ladies who have been attending the Springboard events held each week at the school.
Springboard runs a number of short courses for parents and families, one such has been music and the newly-found choristers eagerly agreed to performing at the carol service. They received several rounds of applause for their efforts.
The school opens again for pupils on Tuesday, January 7.
The school wishes everyone a happy New Year - Blwddyn Newydd Dda.
