As well as welcoming the New Year, local couple, Mark Heywood and Katie Broadhurst, celebrated the arrival of a bouncing baby boy.
Carter Mark James Heywood was born on January 1, 2009, at 3.09 pm, with the help of midwife Anwen Williams at Withybush Hospital. He weighed in at a healthy 9lbs one-and-a-half ounces
Brothers Jack, Cameron and Fletcher were at the hospital within 15 minutes of Carter's birth to see their new brother.
Carter is a first grandchild for Paul and Jude Heywood, of Heywood's, Saundersfoot, great-grandson for Mrs. Jo Williams, of St. Florence, and Mrs. Joyce Bratt, of Tenby, and the fifth grandchild for Maggs and Roger, Tony and Trish.
And it was a very special day for the Heywood family as Carter will share his birthday with his new aunty, Becca Heywood, who celebrated her 21st on January 1. They are all looking forward to a very happy new year.
Mark, who plays rugby for Tenby United, works in the family butchery business in Saundersfoot, while Katie's grandfather, Frank Bratt, was manager of the Co-op Butchers for many years in Saundersfoot before it became Heywood's. Katie, who will be rejoining Manorbier Ladies football team shortly, is the supervisor of Puddleducks Nursery at Park House.
