Art Matters re-opens on Monday after a short break, and launches straight into two weeks of workshops, several of which are aimed at complete beginners. If your New Year resolutions include trying something new and becoming more creative, then why not start now in a friendly group of like-minded people and with expert tuition.

There are places available on the following days:

Tuesday, January 22: Start painting in watercolour with Graham Hadlow. You have seen it on Watercolour Challenge, now come and learn how to do it yourself with Graham's expert teaching.

Wednesday, January 23: Oil painting in miniature with Phillip Harris. Arrive with a favourite photograph and leave with a completed picture. No previous experience is necessary.

Thursday, January 24: Starting out with pastels with Arthur Lewis. This is a repeat of Arthur's November workshop when everyone left with a completed work of art.

Wednesday, January 30: Basic drawing with Peter Blincow. This is an introductory course for those with little or no drawing experience which aims to build the confidence to draw well with Peter's guidance and encouragement

Each of these workshops runs from 10 am to 4 pm, with a break for lunch. Tea and coffee are served at appropriate intervals at no extra charge.

Life drawing with Claudia Williams returns on Saturday, January 26, and continues on a monthly basis until Easter. New members of the group would be very welcome, and with the benefit of Claudia's expertise, artists of all ability levels will benefit. Evening life drawing sessions also return in February.

'Freeing up' is a two-day course with Peter Rossiter on January 28 and 29 designed to free up your approaches to painting. Peter's innovative approach will include individual and group de-inhibiting activities which will help any artist out of a rut and stimulate new ideas.

Further details of these activities, and the new programme of workshops running from February to May can be obtained from John and Margaret at Art Matters, South Parade, Tenby. Telephone (01834) 843375 and leave your name and number, and they will call you back, or call/call in on Monday when the gallery re-opens.
