AMONG the men and women of the Royal Navy recently honoured in the 2018 New Year’s Honours List was former Greenhill School pupil and member of Tenby Sea Cadets, Phillip Titterton, who received a CBE.
Commodore Titterton was included in the Honours List under ‘appointments to the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, as Commanders’.
He joined the Royal Navy in 1981 and served in submarines in the South Atlantic and was eventually promoted to command two submarines, HMS Spectre and HMS Tireless.
The culmination of his seagoing and operational career was recognised in 2004 when he was appointed Officer of the British Empire.
He has recently returned with his wife Sara and children from the United States after spending the last three years serving in an executive capacity in Virginia.
Commodore Titterton, who is the son of Linda and the late Jim Titterton, of Saundersfoot, will retire in March of this year after 37 years of service.
