Thew New Year literally came in with a bang in both Tenby and Saundersfoot, with impressive fireworks displays delighting the crowds in Tudor Square and on Saundersfoot harbour.
Nevertheless, despite the celebrations around the county, Dyfed Powys Police in Pembrokeshire say New Year's Eve was quieter than usual, which is thought to be the result of proactive policing and the effects of the winter flu bug.
Chief Inspector Steve Matchett said: "Officers attended a small number of incidents in town centres across the county over the New Year's Eve period following reports of mainly alcohol-related disturbances - but far fewer than we would normally respond to at this time of year.
"Our media campaign, Operation SANTA (Safe and Nice to All), which provided top tips on how to stay safe over the festive period coupled with proactive policing and poor weather and widespread sickness are all factors that contributed to the lower than average number of incidents," he added.
