The hugely successful 'Porpoise Watch' on Strumble Head last month, organised by PORP and which attracted over 250 people, is to be followed up by two more coastal watch events organised by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
With the seal pupping season now in full swing, the two afternoon walks from St Justinians, near St. Davids, are being titled 'Porpoise and Seal Pup Watches.'
The three-mile linear walks are not taxing and there will be frequent stops to look at the marine life which abounds in and above our coastal waters. Hopefully the porpoises which thrive locally will again appear on cue and also many grey seals and their pups will be seen.
National Park ranger Ian Meopham is leading both walks.
Said Ian: "The turnout for the first-ever Porpoise Watch in August was remarkable, indicating what great interest there is in our marine life. There is so much to see from the Coast Path, I am sure walkers will be thrilled by what they see."
The walks take place from 2-5 pm on Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, October 7, and begin from the steps at St. Justinians. Binoculars and something waterproof (to wear or sit on) are advisable and there will be return transport provided for drivers (no dogs please).
