A new Trust has been set-up by Tenby Town Council to run the De Valence Pavilion while discussions over its future continue.
Since the pavilion reverted back into Tenby Town Council ownership following the liquidation of the De Valence Trust in May of last year, members of the council have been considering options for the building.
Last month, members agreed that, while these discussions are ongoing, in a bid to try and offset some of the running costs to help reduce the tax burden on the ratepayers of the town, and to provide a facility for community use, the building would re-open for hire, as of April 1, 2011.
Two weeks ago the council decided that the most effective way for this to be done would be through setting up a new Trust, and met again on Monday to finalise their plans.
The new trust, to be called Tenby DV, will operate the De Valence as a function centre and conference centre for the benefit of the people of Tenby and its visitors.
Clrs. Mike Evans, Trevor Hallett, Laurence Blackhall, Mrs. Christine Brown, Mrs. Sue Lane, Mrs. Trish Putwain, Mrs. Tish Rossiter, Paul Rapi and Mrs. Caroline Thomas have agreed to serve as council appointed trustees, while clerk to the council, Andrew Davies, has been appointed the new not-for-profit charity's secretary.
The remaining four seats on the board of the new trust are to be made up of members of the community and the council is asking anyone interested in being co-opted to the board to write to Mr. Davies at the De Valence Pavilion, Upper Frog Street, Tenby, SA70 7JD.
For further information, Mr. Davies can also be contacted on (01834) 842730 during office hours.
