Pembrokeshire police division has a new Superintendent.

Superintendent Reg Bevan has taken over from Supt. Euros Lewis, who has retired.

Supt. Bevan has 22 years police service, having started his career in Pembroke Dock, before moving briefly to Llanelli. He then returned to Pembroke Dock and worked there as a detective sergeant, before becoming the section inspector in Haverfordwest, and then a Detective Inspector at police headquarters in Carmarthen.

More recently, he has been seconded to an all-Wales specialist covert investigative team. He held the position of head of profession for special branch and counter terrorism in Wales and then for the last three years as Detective Superintendent, co-ordinator of Operation Tarian, which is the all-Wales multi-agency response to serious and cross border crime.

Supt. Bevan said: "I have spent the last six years in a new and extremely interesting specialist role. However, I am delighted to return to Pembrokeshire and be involved in the policing of my home county.

"I hope to build on the good work that has already been undertaken in the county by building stronger links with our communities and partner agencies.

"I want to raise the profile of neighbourhood policing and raise the confidence of the public in the service they can expect from their local officers.

"I intend to do this by promoting high visibility patrols within the county, whilst at the same time, delivering a professional and quality service and being receptive to community concerns."
