League cricket in Pembrokeshire will have a new sponsor for the next three seasons, as insurance brokers Antur Insurance Services Limited have agreed a sponsorship with the County Cricket Club for an annual undisclosed four-figure sum. In making the announcement, Bill Marchant, the secretary of the Pembroke County Cricket Club, said: "The Pembroke County Cricket Club is delighted to have a locally-based sponsor with both strong local and cricketing connections. We have some ambitious plans ahead and need the support of companies like Antur Insurance Services to achieve our ends." Bill Marchant negotiated the deal with well-known Haverfordwest cricketer Steve James, a director of Antur Insurance Services, and Gary Stevens, of Carmarthen, who is Antur's commercial director. Steve James is still a hard-hitting batsman for the Haverfordwest second eleven and skippered the first team successfully for a number of seasons. Commenting on the sponsorship agreement, Steve James said: "We are delighted to build up business connections with the County Cricket Club which will be to the mutual benefit of the cricket club and our company. "We have offices in Haverfordwest, Fishguard, Cardigan, Carmarthen, Ammanford, Swansea and Llanelli. "There is great interest throughout Pembrokeshire in club cricket, with teams from all over the county and just over the border taking part in league and cup competition. "The sponsorship agreement will enable us to put something into the cricketing community and at the same time promote the image of Antur Insurance Services. "Whereas the initial sponsorship agreement is for a period of three years, ideally we would like that arrangement to continue on a longer basis."
