Budding young soccer starlets in the area will be able to pick up a few footballing tips from the end of the month, when a soccer school for five to 10-year-olds starts up in Whitland.

Former Wycombe Wanderers and Reading FC player, Jay Kennedy, who is an FA qualified football coach who also holds a UEFA B licence, will be taking the courses.

Twenty-five-year-old Jay played under Arsenal legend Tony Adams at Wycombe and for current Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers when he was at Reading.

Unfortunately, Jay's playing career came to an early end, when he had to retire in his early 20s due to ill health.

Jay has worked at academies and centres of excellence and helped to set up one of the biggest community schemes in South East England.

He regularly coaches at evening venues and birthday parties in and around the local area of Carmarthen and also holds one-on-one private coaching sessions to develop young children's football skills.

"I am now bringing my experience of football knowledge to set up my own soccer school here in South Wales. This will help children of all ages get better and enjoy the beautiful game," explained Jay.

'Jay's Soccer School', which will be held at Willow Park, Station Road, Whitland, will start on Friday, May 27, and take place from 4 to 5 pm for six weeks.

Children will be taught basic football skills and the sessions will always finish with small sided games with prizes to win every week.

Every child that attends a course or an evening venue will receive a certificate and a soccer school gift.

All courses and evening venues are limited of spaces, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
