The Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society has appointed a new general manager to run its affairs.
The latest incumbent is Alex Bruce, of Llangynog, Carmarthen - a self employed real estate and administrative consultant who has a wealth of experience working in many parts of the world.
He has succeeded Malcolm Crossman, of Tenby, who served the society with distinction over several years leading up to his recent retirement.
Of Scottish descent, London-born Alex is a graduate of the University of Surrey, Guildford, and, with his wife, Linda, purchased their present 25-acre smallholding in West Wales some 14 years ago since when Alex has regularly commuted to London.
They share an interest in a range of country pursuits, keep seven horses, including warm bloods, Irish draft and thoroughbreds and Linda has obtained her qualification as a dressage judge. They also keep free range poultry and grow a range of produce from their polytunnel, but are 'not yet self-sufficient!'
Alex is hugely optimistic of being able to take the 1784 established Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society forward to new greatness and build upon previous successes of the three-day County Show which now attracts an estimated attendance of up to 100,000 each year.
This year's show will be held on August 16, 17 and 18.
