Narberth's new police sergeant says he is keen to maintain the area's low crime rate. Thirty-eight-year-old Sgt. Andy King has recently moved from Fishguard to take up his position in the town. And already he has been impressed with public co- operation. "A large sum of money was found on the pavement in the town centre and was handed in to the police station," Sgt. King explained. "The loser also contacted us and we were pleased to be able to reunite the two," he said. "Dyfed Powys is a safe area generally with regards to other UK areas and Narberth is one of the safest areas in the force and I hope to maintain that," continued Sgt. King. Born in Tumble, Sgt. King joined Dyfed Powys Police eight-and-a-half years ago and was first based in Lampeter. He has also been stationed in Carmarthen, Llanelli and Cross Hands. He was promoted to the position of sergeant three years ago. Sgt. King will be responsible for the six officers based at the Jesse Road station, which polices not only Narberth town, but also Llandissilio, Llawhaden, Amroth, Kilgetty and Martletwy. A former rugby player for Tumble, Sgt. King lives with his partner in Carmarthen and they have a three-month-old son.
