Some 150 Rotarians representing 75 clubs in South Wales, Mid Wales, and South West Wales, together with friends and guest,s attended the handover at Margam Park on Sunday, July 3. Past district governor Michael Rye, who had completed a very successful year, installed Rotarian David Wiltshire to serve as district governor during the first year of the second century of service. David, who was born and brought up in Cardiff and who retired from the South Wales police in 1994, is a very experienced Rotarian. He was a founder member of the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay and was president in 1989/1990. He joined the Rotary Club of Dinas Powis in 1996 and shortly thereafter joined the district team. He has held office as area community service chairman, district community service and membership chairman, district drug awareness officer, district training advisor, and was assistant governor for three years prior to being elected to the office of district governor. David's message to all Rotarians is: "Let us move forward confidently, secure in our past successes, but ready to accept the challenges that lie in the future and continue to offer service above self to those less fortunate that ourselves."
