Caldey Island has welcomed its latest set of new residents - 26 French partridges which are currently getting used to island life in a pen in the monastery grounds.
The locally reared partridges were transported over to the isle in a crate by Simon and Richard Walters, of West Wales Pest Control, Haverfordwest (pictured).
They will be released into the wild in about three or four weeks.
“The partridges are a lovely addition to the island,” said estate manager Ben Childs. “They are another string to Caldey’s bow. We have a dozen fallow deer coming over during the winter, and hopefully even some alpacas.”
