Residents of Manorbier and Jameston will now be able to do that little bit more towards helping the environment following the placement of glass and paper recycling facilities within the area.

Manorbier Community Council and Pembrokeshire County Council have been working together over recent weeks and identified suitable locations for the 'igloo' style bins, which can now be found on the outskirts of the Skrinkle estate in Manorbier, and next to the bus stop in Jameston.

Chairman of the community council, Clr. Ray Hughes said: "It is great to see these facilities provided for the residents of the area. Although the Orange Bag Scheme is already widely used, it is beneficial to have additional sites for recycling, especially for glass jars and bottles."

Mr. Hywel Gibbs, waste education and awareness officer for Pembrokeshire County Council, added: "Facilities like these are widely used throughout the county, and during the summer months when people are visiting the area, they can be extremely valuable, particularly to those staying on caravan and camping sites."

It is hoped that the new recycling stations will prove popular with residents in Manorbier and Jameston. Anyone wishing to know more about the facilities can contact the clerk to Manorbier Community Council on 01646 650105, or the Pembrokeshire County Council contact centre on 01437 764551.
