Second landscapes exhibition WATERWAYS for local contemporary artist Louise Burdett looks to be a stunning display of energy, light and colour.

Local artist Louise Burdett is showing new contemporary landscape paintings at Stiwdio 1 at the new gallery Stiwdio 1 at The Queens Hall 10-16th July.

The paintings comprise of local scenes including Cresswell Quay and Tenby South Beach with many new interpretations of the Cleddau Estuary at Lawrenny, Louise’s favourite place of inspiration of lockdown.

’This exhibition is a move on from my first Pembrokeshire exhibition ‘Views from Lawrenny’ - this time you’re going to see much more intense use of energy, light and colour. I’d like to think lockdown has changed the way I think about art and it’s relationship to the freedom and life enhancement nature gives us’.

The paintings range in size from 24-40” wide, including square, landscape and panoramic formats.

“For the majority of the paintings I used a large paintbrush or palette knife, or sometimes both, which enabled me to increase the flow and creativity I could achieve within each painting.“

Louise has been resident at the Queens Hall since September in the former Oriel Q gallery which she uses as studio and teaching space and is able to transform it into a gallery for exhibitions throughout the summer months.

WATERWAYS: NEW LANDSCAPES is on 10th-16th July at Stiwdio 1 at The Queens Hall Narberth, open daily 10am - 4pm, closed all day Sunday and Weds morning.
