Members, friends and guests joined together at the Heywood Mount Hotel last Wednesday for the annual Handover Dinner.
President Toni Lucas welcomed Soroptimist president Mary Megarry; Ladies Circle vice-chairman Candy Paterson and chairman of Tangent Maxine Knight.
Grace was said by Jean Peen. MC for the evening was secretary Margaret Jones.
After an enjoyable meal, members were entertained by immediate past president Marnie, and past presidents Betty Ramsay and Mary Morgan with an amusing skit about three different types of women called 'Three Walks of Life'.
This was followed by a flower demonstration given by the very talented Jan Griffiths, of Four Seasons. Secretary Margaret Jones thanked Jan for the excellent arrangements she produced and also thanked Hugh Scale of Four Seasons for providing the flowers.
Sue Broomhead, Diane Whitaker, Mary Megarry and Judy Hughes were the lucky winners of the displays. Toni Lucas won the raffle which was donated by Ray Lowe.
President Toni then presented immediate past president Marnie with a garden voucher as a thank you for her past year's leadership.
Diary dates: Wednesday, July 26 - bus leaving South Parade at 6.20 pm for a meal at Celtic Corner; Wednesday, July 30 - Rotary Medieval Fayre. Members not able to attend may leave 2lb of dough at Waterloo House; Sunday, September 7 - Rotary Classic Car Rally - Welsh Cake stall, more dough and help needed.
