The second meeting in January got off to a prompt start as this was to be president Darrel John's last meeting in the chair.

Anniversary boys for the day were Ray Poole, who was with them, and Chris Lunn, who was not, but best wishes for a good 2007 go to them both. The secretary had letters from the ladies who had received Christmas vouchers with their thanks for remembering them on this festive occasion.

The Scouts Hall committee had invited the club to put a team into their next quiz evening, but after some discussion, it was agreed that the outgoing president present them with a cheque instead, at the first meeting in February, as the chosen charity gift for his year in office.

The next meeting will be held on February 7, when the speaker will be the club's new president, Tony Webster.

The annual general meeting followed on and the new committee is: president - Tony Webster; vice- president - Arthur Squibbs; secretary - Lew Day; almoner - Darrel John.

Tony told the meeting that as it was the 25th anniversary of the club this year, they would be holding a commemorative service at St. Johns Church on Saturday, July 14. More information to follow later, but make a note in your diaries now. Don't forget, the Ladies Day on Wednesday, January 31.
