Developers behind the redevelopment of Tenby's former civic centre into luxury apartments have told town councillors that they are anxious to restart work on the scheme as soon as possible after submitting new plans to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority over the past couple of weeks.
Work on the £3 million scheme, involving the extensive redevelopment of the Grade II listed sea-front buildings, the old Guildhall, and the neighbouring Glendower House, was put on hold at the turn of the year, with the developers, Macob Tenby stating that the "difficult economic climate" had forced them to stop work on the development.
Mr. Frank Booth, of F and P Booth, part of One Tenby - the joint partnership behind the development along with Macob Projects and Nigel Evans Property Group, met with Tenby Town Council last week to inform members that the developers were hopeful that the new plans for the scheme would be approved, after the last set of plans were given the thumbs down by the PCNPA's development management committee.
"Full plans should come before you quite soon, we've had consultations with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, and received a positive response from their conservation officer," said Mr. Booth, who explained that the new designs were similiar to the first plans, with the entire scheme designed to blend with the Georgian terrace theme of The Croft.
"We're anxious to start work again and go forward with it as soon as we can to make it something we can be proud of for Tenby," concluded Mr. Booth.
