West End Musical Director, Angharad Sanders, is to open a new Musical Theatre school in the heart of Milford Haven.
The school is aimed at young artists ranging from ages 3 and up who have an interest in singing, musical theatre, pop music and anyone who would like to work on their vocal techniques.
Limelight School for Performing Arts will offer weekly classes in pop/rock and musical theatre singing. Classes will cover all aspects of singing technique, varied repertoire and ensuring secure, confident voices in all students.
All sessions will also offer guidance in mindfulness and self-belief, helping to rebuff the anxieties and pressure of 21st century life.
Annual performances will also be offered to all students, giving them the chance to work on performance skills, microphone technique and to work with a live band.
Previous students from Limelight have gone on to illustrious careers in various parts of the performing arts industry, including: lead performers in U.K.
National tours, lead vocalists for guest entertainment on international cruise ships, social media influencers and lighting design for national touring productions.
Angharad has worked with performers across the world and currently has previous students in starring roles in, among others, Aladdin, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Wicked, (all West End) Dear Evan Hansen, (Broadway and U.S Tour) Starlight Express (Germany) and War Horse (International Tour).
In the pop music world, she has also worked with artists including: Pixie Lott, Lauren Rammell (Four of Diamonds), Cally Rhodes and Nim (Singer with Paloma Faith).
Angharad has taught for performing arts schools across the globe, including the world renowned, Italia Conti Academy for Theatre Arts, the Sylvia Young Theatre School and Stagedoor Manor (New York).
Originally hailing from Carmarthen, Angharad has moved back to Wales and is excited to open Limelight and offer the people of Pembrokeshire the same training as is available in London.
Angharad commented: “It is a dream of mine to pass on my experience to the young artists of the area and show them that even coming from the heart of the country, you can progress to the top levels of the industry given the right training and guidance.”
Group sessions at Limelight range from 30 minute to 45 minute classes and begin from age 3 and up, these will take place at Pill Social Centre, Milford Haven, from Sunday (September 9).
One to one sessions in singing, piano and music theory are bespoke to the needs of the students. Limelight will also be offering workshops in various aspects of the performing arts industry during the school holidays.
