He is currently the Deputy Mayor and and will become the 631st Mayor of Pembroke at the annual meeting to be held at Pembroke Town Hall on Saturday, May 1.
A native of Bosherston, Clr. Nicholas, who is married to Karen, has been a member of Pembroke Town Council since 1997.
A keen rugby fan, he is also social treasurer of Pembroke Rugby Football Club and past chair of Pembroke Chamber of Trade.
During his time as a town councillor, he has been actively involved with promoting the town, including the production of a visitor's guide and the enhancement of Main Street with improved Christmas lighting and floral displays.
Upon accepting the nomination, Clr. Nicholas said: "I'm delighted and honoured to be elected Mayor and looking forward to the challenge during these difficult economic times.
"I will give 100 per cent to addressing the issues and concerns of local people. I would also like to congratulate Clr. Aden Brinn on being elected to serve as Deputy Mayor."
Clr. Nicholas will be raising money through his year of office for the Help for Heroes and Mencap Stackpole Gardens charities.
