It is encouraging when someone says they have been thinking about us, it makes us feel special. Reminding us of Elvis Presley's song words, we are always on God's mind:
"How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!" (Psalm 139).
What can be more encouraging than this? There is more: God goes "before me and follows me. You place your hand of blessing on my head." Also: " If I rise on the wings of the dawn... settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast."
When we go through trials we might feel God has abandoned us. Habakkuk shouted: "How long, Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?" A whole dialogue goes on between him and God in the end Habakkuk declares: "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour."
Habakkuk made a decision, despite his hard life, the world's injustice and the rise of wickedness in people around him, he was going to praise God. How hard is that?! But it is exactly this attitude that gives Habakkuk strength saying: "The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights."
God is ever present, all knowing, whether in good or bad times God will "hold us in His right hand." I think about this if I get afraid, worried about the unstable, looming future; it is a comforting thought.
God says: "My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don't lose sight of them." (Proverbs 4)
God's thoughts are for us, to help, not harm us. They are thoughts to give us hope and a future. If you are afraid or are in trouble, get help, talk to some one; but always remember: God thinks about you more times than there are grains of sand on a beach.
You are always on God's mind.
