Suffering, heartache, pain, loss, poverty can lead us to wonder why?! If you feel in the dark, lost and alone God says, "Let there be light."

While we may never understand why things happen to us in this life, many have found that suffering can sometimes be a way in for God. Jesus knew suffering. He was frowned upon, misunderstood, rejected and deserted; publically praised one minute, then escaping for his life in the next.

Sin is a serious business; it has no place with God. Justice has a high price. If we want justice someone has to take the sentence. That is why Jesus took the punishment for us. This was his ultimate suffering, facing death on the cross, taking punishment for the world's wrongs, in our place.

Jesus knows our suffering. He feels our pain, the disappointment of a broken world. But this is only temporary. He died that we might live, forever. His blood washes us clean. Jesus is the Light of the World. His Light gives life.

Jesus is coming back to take us to a place where there is no more suffering. No pain, no sickness, no disabling ailments, no death, no sorrow and no more tears. In the meantime, Jesus can help us, give us shelter from the storm in the shadow of his wings, sustaining and empowering us.

Some people feel they have no-one to turn to - turn to Jesus. He is waiting for you. He loves you and wants you to know it. You do not have to face things alone anymore.

As we mark the beginning of Christmas, advent, let Jesus ignite his Light into your life. Suffering, pain and sorrow remain, but his hope will sustain.

Look out on the horizon, for he is coming, soon.
