Are you living in the past? Trapped in trauma. Stuck in some sinister stronghold?
You remember the good old days, a rosier life - 'those were the days!'
When travelling there is only one way to look - forward.
God sent two angels to Lot (Genesis 19) telling him to get out of town as it was going to be destroyed: "run to the hills, don't look back." But Lot lingered; the angels literally dragged them out. He wanted to run to a near town, not the hills, clinging on. Lot's wife loved Canaanite life, she took one last look back with deadly results - she became a pillar of salt.
Do you have a stumbling block? Are you burdened by hurt from the past? Do you bear unforgiveness? Jesus loves you; he wants to set you free.
Perhaps you feel you have done something so bad you think you can never be forgiven. Not true! Stop listening to the Devil's lies! If you believe in Jesus, his death paid for your wrongs, all of them; God wants you to be honest with Him and move forward.
If you have any negative thoughts, deal with them -replace them with God's promises. If you are involved in something dodgy - stop and move out!
"Come out from among them and be separate." (Corinthians 2:16). God wants his people away from sinful places; in, but not of, the world. Let go of the world, or let go of your convictions.
It is hard work moving forwards, we can not have one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom.
When God warns or calls, don't look back. Lot's wife looked back - she died. The Jews were freed from Egypt -a few days later they wanted to go back, resulting in 40 years in the wilderness. God is willing to forgive your past, so stop living in it. If you have been called out of the world by God, it is for a purpose. As you walk with God, your purpose becomes clear.
On the walk, remember you have the victory. Problems come; God says: "I will never leave you nor will I forsake you." The day you went to Jesus, means you will never be alone.
God requires us to: "Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly," with Him. (Micah). So let's run the race, looking forward, forgetting what is behind; keeping your eyes on the prize - Jesus. (Hebrews 12:1-3).
