A new library building opened to the public in Pembroke on Tuesday.

Formerly located in the town's Main Street, the library has relocated to share the same premises as the Tourist Information Centre on The Commons.

The new facility has been refurbished throughout and features computers for free public access, a colourful section for children and young people, as well as plenty of new stock to choose from.

The opening hours are: Tuesday and Friday 10 am - 1 pm and 2 - 5 pm; Wednesday 10 am - 1 pm; Thursday 10 am - 1 pm and 2 - 7 pm; Saturday 10 am - 1 pm.

Pembrokeshire County County Clr. and cabinet member for cultural services, Rob Lewis, said it was appropriate that it was opening in the middle of the all-Wales 'Happy Days' campaign being run to encourage people to use their local libraries.

"Over the next three years, the council is committed to spending around £1.5 million on improving library services in the county.

"There are already new libraries in Fishguard and Neyland and we have started a complete internal refurbishment in Pembroke Dock."
