One of Tenby's beach-front buildings is to have a new lease of life.

The Pembrokeshire County Council owned grade 2 listed stone building on the Castle Beach slipway was originally built as a lifeboat shed.

The east (seaward) facing elevation is having glazing panels, doors, a steel balcony and timber shutters to match those at the west side.

All works are due for completion at the end of February.

It is hoped to lease the building and there are currently two expressions of interest.

In the future, it is hoped that the building will become part of a low water landing facility for the Caldey Island trip boats.

The building has not been used for a few years, but previously it was used as a private diving instruction base and a deckchair concession, as well as storage for the harbourmaster.
