After six years of dedicated service, Span Arts manager Gwen Watson is standing down to pursue horizons new and making way for a brand new leader of the organisation.

“I have had an amazing journey at Span Arts over the last six years,” she said. “It’s going to be really sad leaving here after so long, and after putting so much of my life into the organisation.”

Span Arts is sad to say goodbye to Gwen, but excited about what the future holds with a change in leadership as they seek a vibrant new manager, with the vision, skills and experience to lead Pembrokeshire’s number one community arts organisation.

Span Arts is a community arts charity of 30 years’ standing engaged in the provision of an inclusive programme of live arts events and arts-based activities for people in Pembrokeshire. Span Arts’ vision is to improve people’s lives through the arts with a mission to provide arts for everyone.

Based in Narberth, the new Span Arts manager will take overall responsibility for day to day running of the organisation, its events and programming, building on its current success. Working with a committed body of trustees, he or she will manage a team of people and projects, ensuring long-term sustainability and a varied programme of live arts events.

During this time of change, Span Arts is also looking for an outreach and events officer to help manage, deliver, monitor and evaluate The Cheerful Project, an intergenerational community engagement project, funded by the BIG Lottery. The much loved Cheerful Project was established to use the arts to reduce rural, social and economic isolation, while engaging a wider range of people in the arts, and increasing awareness of Span Arts’ activities.

The outreach and events officer will be responsible for recruiting and supporting hard-to-reach participants; and assisting with the delivery of the programme of arts activities in three key locations in Pembrokeshire - Narberth, Clarbeston Road and Maenclochog.
