A former Mayor of Tenby has come up with an idea for a new home for one of the town's monuments. Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas asked members to consider allowing the Dyster Memorial Fountain to be sited in the grounds of the new cottage hospital. "Dr. Dyster was on the medical staff of the Cottage Hospital and was one of the largest contributors to its foundation," she pointed out. On the hospital's opening day, he also handed over a donation of £200 to clear the debts. "Dr. Dyster did lots of things for the town and he was also a member of this council and a former Mayor," Clr. Mrs. Thomas said. "The members of the Local Implementation Group are in favour of the idea and would like to know what the council think," she continued. "At the moment it is just for consideration and consultation. Perhaps people will come forward with their comments," she added. • The fountain was given by Dr. Dyster in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Wedgwood, of St. Mary's Hill, Tenby, who served in the 1st Guards at Waterloo. It was sited in Tudor Square until November 1991 when it was removed after being damaged by a lorry. Since then it has been kept in storage by the council.
