'The Hedgehogs' have been experiencing a see-saw of success in their recent matches. In the away match with the St. John's Church Club in Pembroke Dock on November 21 the Hedgehogs' prickles were badly damaged, winning only the pairs. The team somehow could not get used to the opposition's fast mat - well, that was their excuse anyway!

Playing at home against Monkton on November 26, however, they redeemed themselves by winning every game. The score did not reflect the very close ends, and the fours in particular gave rise to much applause as the jack was hit so frequently, the initiative passing from one team to the other with every shot. The outcome meant the Hedgehogs gained 10 very valuable league points.

On December 2, there was an away match with Skrinkle, and the defeat suffered by New Hedges reflected the accurate, thoughtful play and strategy that Skrinkle has been playing all season; they have won every match so far played. The Hedgehogs put up a good fight, though, and are looking forward to meeting Skrinkle next year when they will play on their own mat!

The last match to be played before Christmas is an away one with Lamphey, and it is hoped the see-saw will be on its way up again for the New Hedges club.
