New Hedges Village Hall was the venue last Thursday for a very successful Harvest Supper which raised £320 for Hall funds.
Over 60 people enjoyed a sociable evening of food and entertainment which had been organised by the New Hedges 'Tuesday Ladies'.
Autumn produce decorated the hall to set the scene and a Harvest grace was said by the Rev. Peter Richmond, of the Hesed Christian Fellowship.
Following a hearty ploughman's supper, followed by apple pie and ice cream, entertainment was provided by New Hedges' own John Butland, Alwen Hughes, Graham Hughes and Dennis Reed, with Doreen Hammersley's Scottish country dancers inviting plenty of audience participation, and an hilarious version of 'Old MacDonald had a Farm' bringing the evening to a happy close.
Raffle winners were Ken Holland (preserves hamper donated by Watts and Brace), Kirsty Brace (fruit hamper donated by Michael Roberts, Rumbleway Service Station), Barbara Roberts (veg hamper donated by Priory Farm Shop), Betty Richards, Joan Rees and Ruth Goldwait.
Thanks go to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, including John Butland who donated cheese, butter and milk, The Reef who donated the apple pies and Phillip Brace and Dennis Reed for their flowers and vegetables which were sold to boost the total raised.
