A new group has been formed to ensure that members of the public have more input in putting across their views on issues involving the local health service.

Tenby town councillor Mrs. Caroline Thomas and former chair of the Tenby Cottage Hospital Local Implementation Group, Mr. Mansel Thomas, have been trying to orchestrate a meeting to form a PPI (Patient and Public Involvement) group for the area for some time.

At a meeting of the town council on Tuesday evening, Clr. Mrs. Thomas revealed that recent discussions with representatives from the Hywel Dda NHS Trust at the New Tenby Cottage Hospital had proved prosperous.

"It was a very successful meeting, I'm glad to report, and we've decided to name the group 'South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network' and anyone who wants to be involved can be.

"We hope that the new initiative will be a great success," said Clr. Mrs. Thomas, who hopes that the group's first meeting will be held in the New Year. She also requested that a letter be written to local AM Angela Burns thanking her for her support.
