An exciting new initiative is being created by the Texaco Pembrokeshire Women's League with the start of a seven-a-side outdoor league.
Played on Astro Turf at Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest, every Sunday afternoon, 2-4 pm, the league will start on October 28, and with a break for Christmas, will run through until March 3, 2002.
The concept of the league is to develop female football in Pembrokeshire, and to this end it is targeted at new players, older players perhaps returning to the game, and ex-players who have played for clubs that have dropped out of the Pembrokeshire league over the years. Players have to be at least 14 years of age. Prior football knowledge or experience is not essential for a person to be able to take part in this league.
The Texaco Women's League is looking for a maximum of eight teams to create this league, and already have firm interest from a number of sources from around the county.
