The new 'Yellow Pages' for Pembrokeshire's hospitality and retail sectors has been launched at the County Show on Wednesday. The Pembrokeshire Food and Drink Directory is designed to help county businesses source their food and drink locally. Now in its fifth year of publication, it has almost 180 entries including not only producers but also distributors, retailers and wholesalers. The directory has been put together by Kate Morgan, food officer at Pembrokeshire County Council, who says feedback from previous years has been excellent. "It's played an integral part in increasing trade locally and raising awareness of local food and drink producers," she said. "If a café, restaurant or hotel has Pembrokeshire potatoes, home-cooked ham, speciality cheese, or fresh local vegetables on the menu, it not only helps to create a sustainable economy but is attractive both to tourists and local people." Kate added that support in the agri-food sector has enabled more producers in Pembrokeshire to diversify into added-value production. "There's a wealth of excellent produce in Pembrokeshire and we would encourage people to make the most of it," she said. The directory is free for all hospitality and retail businesses.
