AFTER 10 years as the first president of Tenby Arts Festival, Sir David Meyrick has sadly had to retire due to ill health (writes R.R.D.).
However, his wife Penelope Meyrick, after a little persuasion, has agreed to become the festival's new president.
Lady Meyrick has been at the core of the festival since its inception in 1991.
For 10 years she was its highly efficient secretary, but was forced to give it up to look after her husband.

There are also two new additions to the vice-presidents. Grant Llewellyn, who conducted the BBC Orchestra of Wales at last year's Festival and Dr. John Harrison, director of music at St. Mary's Church, have both agreed to become vice-presidents.
The programme for the festival 2003 can be found on the Festival's website http://www.tenbyartsfest.com">www.tenbyartsfest.com and the programme leaflet will be available next month.

On June 11, there will be a fund-raising supper at the Dinosaur Park by kind permission of Simon and Amanda Meyrick.
Monday, May 26 is the day when the festival uses the bandstand for its intended purpose and bands will play all day on Castle Hill. This is a fun event organised by Anne Rowell to make the Bank Holiday go with a bang.
