Local businessman and sportsman, Michael Evans, was the toast of voters last week after being elected to serve on Tenby Town Council.
Independent candidate, Mr. Evans, of 4 Queen's Parade, topped last Thursday's north ward poll with 221 votes.
The former Tenby United captain just pipped head of Greenhill School's performing arts department, Paul Rapi, to the seat which became vacant following the resignation of Stuart Fecci.
Mr. Rapi, of 1 Upper Frog Street, netted 197 votes, while third in the by-election, which saw a 29 per cent turnout, was retired Hong Kong police officer John Griffiths, of 3 Scotsborough View, who polled 65 votes.
