PEMBROKESHIRE County Council has unveiled its new team of customer welfare assistants.
Council leader, Clr. Maurice Hughes, said the authority had been aware for some time of the need to expand its welfare benefits service to meet the demand from customers.
The six strong team - led by Karen Davies - will be provided with the latest technology to enable them to assess people for potential entitlement to a variety of benefits, such as income support, housing benefit and tax credits.
The staff, based in County Hall, Haverfordwest, will be in post from April 1.
Said Clr. Hughes: "The additional resources the council has provided are intended to meet the demand from all sections of the community.
"Initially the team will provide home visits, but we intend to develop the service to include, among other things, local surgeries throughout the county."
