Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority has appointed Director of Risk Chris Davies to the role of Chief Fire Officer. At an extraordinary meeting of the Fire Authority held at Carmarthen Headquarters on Tuesday, members of the Fire Authority appointed current Assistant Chief Fire Officer Chris Davies to the permanent post of Chief Fire Officer. The appointment comes after Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service's former Chief Fire Officer Richard Smith announced his retirement from the Service at the end of March. Commenting on the appointment, Clr. Roy Llewellyn, chair of the authority said: "I am delighted to announce that Chris Davies has been appointment as Chief Fire Officer for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. We are confident that we have the right person in post as we enter the new five-year planning cycle and we look forward to working with our new Chief Fire Officer." Speaking on his appointment, newly appointed Chief Fire Officer Chris Davies said: "I am extremely delighted to be appointed Chief Fire Officer for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. I look forward to working together with staff and the authority to ensure Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service become world leaders in community safety and emergency response."
