Do you have it in you to conjure up a new Harry Potter? or perhaps pen a script for Grange Hill? If you have the urge to write, then Pembrokeshire's new Writers Squad is for you. The after-school club has been organised by the county council's library service for youngsters aged 12 and over. Once a term, professional writers, covering a variety of writing skills, will lead sessions and help youngsters develop their talent. They will also keep in contact through the year via an interactive email writing network. The club, which is free, kicks-off this month when writer Dan Anthony will talk about writing for Radio and TV. As one of the writers for CBBC's Tracy Beaker, he will start with an episode of the show, look at story and character and how to set about writing the next TV hit. In sessions next year, poet and broadcaster Lloyd Robson will talk about poetry, while singer songwriter Perryn Butler will discuss song writing. Later, professional actor and writer Dave Ainsworth will lead a session on monologues for the stage. "We hope the club will inspire and encourage all those youngsters who want to write," said Pamela Harry, young people's librarian. "There's a lot of talent out there, which only needs a little nurturing for it to bloom!" If you're interested in joining the squad contact Pam Harry on 01437 779920 or arts officer Christine Willison on 01437 775246 or come along to the first session at Haverfordwest Library on Tuesday from 4 to 5 pm.
