The new 351 Tenby to Pendine bus will be unable to operate between Amroth and Pendine due to a road closure from this week.

The 351 will terminate in Amroth for eight weeks from Tuesday, May 2 while part of the C3014 road is closed for realignment work due to cliff erosion.

“There is insufficient time within the timetable to accommodate the length of diversion required and based on the limited transport resources available it is not possible to provide a shuttle bus between Amroth and Pendine,” said a spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council.

County Councillor for Kilgetty and Begelly Alistair Cameron, one of those that campaigned for the service that serves the locality, to be saved, said:

“Unfortunately, there is a problem in that the new service will only be able to run between Tenby and Amroth during May and June, with the full service from Tenby to Pendine coming into effect from the beginning of July at the latest.

“This is due to the closure of the coast road between Amroth and Pendine for approximately 8 weeks between May and June.”

The new Taf Valley Coaches 351 service is effective from today (May 2) after ‘people power’ and pressure on PCC was credited for saving the vital rural bus service from the axe, with councillors last month highlighting residents’ concerns that the 351 service between Tenby and Pendine, and the 352 between Tenby and Kilgetty would cease from the end of April.

A spokesperson for Amroth Community Council said: “A lot of public campaigning, financial support from Pembrokeshire County Council and Taf Valley Coaches’ commitment has enabled this service to continue.

“Please support this service by choosing to use the bus whenever you can.”
