THE story of a young mum who hails from Maidenwells, Pembroke, is among those featured in a new book raising funds for war veterans.
Daffodil Girls tracks the experiences of 12 women - mostly from Wales - while their partners - servicemen in the 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh go on tours of duty.
Among those featured is Kirsty Large (nee Jones), who was five months pregnant with her first child when her husband Second Lieutenant Ben Large left for a tour of Afganistan - the first time they had been apart since they were married just months before.
Their daughter Annabel - born on October 25 - was induced so that it would coincide with a two-week break for Ben, who had to leave three days after the birth.
The book is also dedicated to the 'newest Daffodil Girl' who was reunited with her dad in February.
Royalties from the book go to Help the Heroes, the charity for servicemen.
