Members of St. Issell’s and St. Elidyr’s Churches were delighted to welcome the new Bishop of St. Davids, Rt. Rev. Joanna Penberthy, to a joint service in St. Issell’s Church on Sunday.

The Bishop, who was accompanied by her chaplain, Rev. Canon Paul Mackness, took part in the service and took the opportunity to preach her first sermon in St. Issell’s Church.

It was an uplifting service and the singing was ably led by St. Issell’s Choir who were in very good voice.

The Bishop stayed behind after the service to share coffee and cake with the congregation and was happy to chat to everyone and enable people to get to know her. She was also interested to hear about the building repairs to St. Issell’s which are planned for later in the year.

Another busy week lies ahead at St. Issell’s: Sung Eucharist, at 10.30 am, on Sunday morning, and in the evening, at 5 pm, the second of our healing services which is a time of prayer, peace, reflection and the music of Taize.
