Members of St. Florence Women's Institute recently gathered in pouring rain for the siting of their new bench marking the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

The seat, which is of Welsh oak, replaces a previous one provided in 1965 to mark the golden jubilee of the WI.

Texaco Ltd. gave a generous donation towards the cost and Mr. Phil Thompson, Texaco's public relations manager, joined the ladies on the day.

Mr. John Evans, chairman of St. Florence Community Council, was also present as were four of the branch's founder members from 40 years ago, Mary Evans, Ruth Brace, Nora Nunn and Val Richards.
