THE second phase of a unique project aimed at helping parents back into work has been launched.

Last Thursday, Welsh Assembly Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones and Education Minister Jane Hutt launched phase two of the Genesis Wales project in Pontypridd.

The project aims to reduce the barriers faced by parents who want to learn new skills or return to work.

As well as offering advice, it also offers financial assistance and, in particular, childcare support.

Genesis Pembrokeshire will be organising several events over the coming weeks to launch the project in the county.

Project manager Karen Picton said the team was looking forward to the challenges ahead.

"We will be working within different communities across the county to offer individuals every opportunity for a brighter future," she said.

Genesis II is part of an All-Wales organisation linked to key central government initiatives and partly funded by the Objective 1 European Social Fund. The project is delivered locally through the Pembrokeshire County Council's children and young people's framework partnership.
