Pembroke Town Council recently held their grand opening of the barbecue area on Pembroke Commons which has been regenerated with part funding from Pembrokeshire County Council.

Opening the barbecue were the Mayor and Mayoress, Denis and Rita Evans, Henry VII, councillors, along with school children from Golden Grove, Lamphey and Monkton schools, who listened intently to Mark Vines, of Acanthus Holdings, who designed the sundial which is part of the barbecue area.

Following the talk, the children enjoyed hotdogs and hamburgers cooked on the barbecue in the sunshine.

The barbecue is open to everyone, and town clerk Suzie Thomas said Pembroke Town Council was delighted that the barbecue area is now open for the summer and hoped residents and visitors would use the area.

Before the renovation, the area looked an eyesore and unkempt, and now with new seating areas, planting and a new barbecue, it will be a new facility for the area for everyone to enjoy.
