THE Gallery at St. Brides, Saundersfoot, which officially opened on Saturday, extends to you a warm invitation to the very first of an annual programme of exhibitions.

The idea of the new gallery was born out of the love of art shared by David Burke, of the Adam Gallery, Penarth, and Andrew Evans, of the St. Brides Hotel, and the liaison between the two venues creates dynamic possibilities for Welsh art.

Art from East and West Wales is now united and Welsh artists will enjoy enhanced exposure and will flourish because of this liaison.

Both galleries will feature an annual programme of new work and solo exhibitions, interspersed with group exhibitions of up to 30 Welsh artists whose talent deserves increased exposure.

Newly refurbished, the St. Bride's Hotel, Saundersfoot, is an imaginative venue for an art gallery and visitors are welcomed into a large, airy exhibition area. The difference lies in the setting and the possibilities that a hotel offers, with comfortable sofas arranged to view the exhibits, or if you wish you can also walk around the gallery to view the paintings; the choice is yours.

Whether you visit Saundersfoot to see the new exhibition and discover how the innovative design of the hotel lends itself so well to a gallery, or whether you just want to sit and enjoy the setting, enhanced by the beautiful landscape paintings of Leonard Beard, you will be made very welcome.

Leonard Beard's exhibition of around 40 new paintings is open from 3 - 6 pm daily until March 31.

Later in the year, a series of Art Masterclasses is scheduled, and special weekend breaks are also planned to coincide with forthcoming events.
