On Saturday, despite the wet and windy weather, several members of the Friends of East Williamston Jubilee Park turned out to give an energetic couple of hours clearing scrub and a stream to prepare a stretch of hedge for laying.

This work is urgent as spring is just round the corner and nesting birds cannot be disturbed.

They were also able to plant some generously donated shrubs in the ground around the 'bus stop' to make this into an attractive area of the village come summer.

Visitors to the park will see that the snowdrops are out in profusion and daffodils and bluebells will not be far behind.
